Web Sites. There has not been much information on the World
Wide Web about Pendleton's National Park blankets, which is why I created this web site: to
have a place to share what inforraton I have, and as a means
to gather additional information about and images of b=vintahe
National Park blankets. This web site is the only one I'm aware of that is devoted to
both vintage and new National Park blankets. Harold Tichenor's web site
explains point blankets, while others illustrate Pendleton's curent Indian trade, commemorative and National Park blankets.
www.pointblankets.com. Harold Tichenor's web site on point blankets,
a good starting off point for learning about vintage trade blankets.
www.nwmuseumstore.com. The easiest web site for viewing all of Pendleton's
current blankets, including its eight national park blankets. A wool browser's paradise.
www.pendleton-usa.com/index.jsp/ Pendleton's corporate web site with
images of most of its blankets, including all eight current national park
blankets. Nicely organized.
www.deweytrading.com. The Dewey Trading Company offers many
commemorative trade blankets celebrating the Southwest U.S.A. Well worth a peek.

Books. Very little has been written about
Pendleton's national park series blankets, but there are some very good books
about the development and variations of Indian
trade blankets, out of which the National Park blankets arose. Recommended Books
are:
Friedman, Barry, CHASING RAINBOWS - Collecting American
Indian Trade and Camp Blankets, Bullfinch Press, Boston, MA. 2002, ISBN:
0-8212-2758-0. The most comprehensive
treatise written with a sense of humor, but only one sentence about national
park blankets..
Kapoun, Robert W., LANGUAGE
OF THE ROBE - American Indian Trade Blankets, Gibbs Smith, Layton, Utah
1992, ISBN: 0-87905-468-9. The ground
breaking book in this area, with a good chapter on early 1990s commemorative
trade blankets.
Tichenor, Harold, The
Collector's Guide to POINT BLANKETS of the Hudson's Bay Company and other
companies trading in North America, Cintel Film Productions Ltd., Bowen
Island, British Columbia, Canada V0N 1G0, 2002, ISBN: 0-9731459-0-0. Early Hudson Bay Company blanket history and
a great introduction to Hudson Bay and other striped trade blankets having
points as a major feature. Mentions and
pictures a few Pendleton national park blankets, a terra cotta 1928 Santa Fe
and a straw Grand Canyon with points.
Magazine articles. "Pendelton National Park Blankets, 1916 to 2006", by Fred Coldwell, published in the Spring 2007 issue of Airstream Life, is an 8 page article on these national park blankets. You can order this issue directly
